C.MAYDA Short Story

We sit in our seats, watching the people on stage giving their speeches. “Don’t worry, nobody’s expect much from you,” he leans over and whispers. “Is that suppose to be a pep talk?” I whisper back. He smiles. “Not exactly, but if you fail, it won’t be as bad as you think,” “I can’t believe that of all people that could have been my best friend, I get stuck with you,” I smile back, and laugh under my breathe. I look behind myself to find a gazillion people , watching the students on stage. I can’t think straight. My parents, where are they sitting. Their nowhere in sight. I shuffle my feet and straighten out my cap. He nudges me “Come on, don’t be so nervous. You’ll do fine. Trust me,” he says as I turn back to him. “I don’t know, Nick,” I look back over at the students on stage. Courtney Dells was up at the podium. Her speech is going great, and she’s doesn’t even seem to be nervous at all. “Sky, you’ll do fine. Cheer up, imagine if I was gonna give a speech. I...
Hailey Y BEEP! BEEP! I shot up out of bed up like a child on a trampoline . I blink twice to realize where I am. My room the same purple comforter, the same worn out old rug. I slide off my bed and peer out the window at the rosy golden rays. Ugh 6:45 I groan. I browse through the pile of colorful shirts. I choose my faded old bulls t-shirt. I throw on a pair of jeans and brush through my matted hair. Then I run down the stairs and grab some cereal from the pantry. “Sarah please don’t forget to walk your sister home from school”. “Do I have to?” I groan. Mom gave me one of those looks that you just knew meant business. My dad is on his way out and give me and my sister Maddie a hug and he’s off.  I grab my homework and pack it up. I race to the bus stop and wave to my best friend Ella. We get on the bus and move to our usual seat and gossip and whisper as usual. T he bus stops at the school and we both get off the bus and head to the dark stone building. Every day at 7:...

Teddy Dumitru Short Story

It started one dark stormy night in Detroit, Michigan. Bang! I woke up immediately after hearing the strange, loud ringing noise. I rushed down the stairs of my apartment only to find that there wasn’t anything there. I sighed. I was so tired because I worked so hard the night before at my job that I could barely stand, so I decided to go back to sleep and look into it the next day. On the way back upstairs my next door neighbor, Colten, stopped me before I went into his apartment. “What’s all the commotion about?” asked Colten. “I don’t know. I heard something that sounded like a gunshot, when I went downstairs to check it out… there was nothing there.” I explained. “Well, I’m sure that the police will find out what happens in the morning,” Colten assured me. “Yeah, it’s a shame that they never get too involved with things like this ,” I said. We both decided to go to sleep because it was 3:30, we would both only get a few more hours to sleep before our jobs started. We bo...

The Future For Us

It was dark and gloomy, with leftover pieces of buildings flying everywhere. After the attack in Chicago, there’s nothing much that’s standing still. Sure, there are some buildings and streets, however there are only a few people left. As I walk up and down the streets I see all the fun memories in the exciting tall city buildings I have, well I used to have. Finally I came across my old school. I used to love dark and gloomy days like these because we didn’t even have to show up. That had me thinking about the last day I almost went to school. It was a summer day in the city. As usual I was fighting my way out of going with my mom. “BOO DOO DOO” went the tv as a news alert went on. School was canceled which made me almost as happy as an Olympian receiving the gold. Whenever it looked very gloomy and cloudy outside, the government wanted to everyone to stay inside their homes in case a terrorist attack was coming our way. Only very few times has that actually happened. I jumpe...
Chased By: Emma Swerdlow One day I was walking home from school. It was a long hard day and I was excited to get home. On my way home I saw a male deer munching on leaves in the bushes. All of a sudden it looked at me with curious eyes and I did not know what to do. It started to walk towards me so I ran the other way. Then it started to run after me. It felt like I had to run a marathon to get back home because I had to go through 2  other neighborhoods and also through some woods I found. The maze of trees was hard to get through but I kept on running.  Still the deer never stopped following me. Terrified, I ran out of the woods into my back yard and inside my house and slam went the door.  I peeked out of the window and saw the deer pacing back and forth, like it couldn’t wait for me to come out.   But I never came out. That night at home I did some research on the internet.  I looked up “What to do if you get close to a deer.”   I ...

My Dog Noodles

I I woke up. It was 9:55 am on September 4th. It was my birthday. Outside I heard little birds chirping as loud as a bear . I looked over and saw my phone, picked it up and walked into my bathroom. I put on my brand new t-shirt. It was bright pink and purple with a dog on It because I LOVE dogs. The dog was big, fluffy, so bright and colorful. "Happy 14th birthday Sarah." My mom said excitedly as she walked into my room. "Thanks, mom," I said " I have a surprise for you but dad has it." mom said. "Where is he." I said "He will be home soon. Come downstairs and get something to eat." She said. I finished getting ready and walked downstairs. When I got downstairs I saw a HUGE cake and amazing balloons. It looked amazing. I didn't really know what I was going to get but I really wanted a dog. I'm obsessed with dogs my entire room is full of cute pictures of dogs. When dad got home I heard aloud nose. Bark bark bark. ...
