The Angry Cactus

Once upon a time in the middle of Arizona there was a cactus. But this cactus was different then most cacti, he was angry and mean. Most people think of cacti being meaner than a grumpy old man but actually they’re very nice, except for Harry, the meanest cactus of all time. Harry lived on the outskirts of town by himself. Every Morning he would get up, make his cup of coffee, read the newspaper and eat a bagel that he liked perfectly golden brown like a bar of gold and if it were even a little burnt he would throw it out. Harry had no friends because everyone in the town was nice except for him. Whenever Harry would go into town the other cacti would try to be nice but all Harry would say was stop talking to me or, what are you looking at. But there was one cacti who Harry was nice to, her name was Sam. Sam was the type of cactus that could make a rainbow out of a storm. No one knew why Harry was nice to Sam. Sam worked at the local grocery store as a bagger. Every time Harry went there he always had Sam store the groceries for him and gave her a tip and said “ thank you have a good day “. After a while people started to notice and questioned why Harry was so nice to Sam. it was almost like a mystery and people wanted to find out. The town of Cactusville is where they live and it isn’t big so everyone knows everyone. So a group of cacti got together to figure out this mystery. As the cacti researched to the point that they thought there arms were going to fall off, they found some great but sad information. Turns out that Sam was in a terrible car accident when she was a baby and the driver was Harry . Harry was in the car that hit and killed everyone besides Sam in the car. Harry felt so bad about how he ruined Sam's life that he had a chip on his shoulder his whole life and is only nice to her. After the cacti saw how sorry he felt they knew they had to do something. They thought that if they do something nice for him that maybe he’ll move forward and become nice to the other cacti. So the cacti came up with a brilliant idea, Sam who agreed to throw a party for Harry about how she forgives him and how he should move on. A couple days went by and they finally put the party together and Sam invited Harry.  When Harry arrived he lost his words and at first he showed no emotion. When he walked in he looked at a banner that says “ we forgive and forget “. For the first time in what seemed like forever Harry gave everyone the biggest smile any catus had ever seen.

Maddie always wanted to join the boys basketball team, but she couldn’t. Swish , that was the sweet sound to Maddie’s ears. Maddie was standing at the freethrow line. Everyday I wake up, pitch darkness. It has always been this way ever since I was born. People always tell me about how the sky is so bright and vibrant. A breathtaking mix of blue and white. I could never imagine something like that. These are the types of things I wish I could see. I get told that my little sister Julia is beautiful. Big brown eyes, long eyelashes and curly brown hair. People adore her. She is ten years old. I am 13. From what I have heard, I have straight brown hair and brown eyes. Not the shiny kind that people get lost in, just brown.  I am not gorgeous like my sister, but not quite “ugly” either. I am just average. Whenever I wake up, I can never really tell if I am 100% awake, all that comes to my brain is blackness. I know some things, like when my mom comes in to wake me up in the morning, her knees crack a little when she walks down the hall, and her feet brush the floor when she tries to be quiet.
