Chased

One day I was walking home from school. It was a long hard day and I was excited to get home. On my way home I saw a male deer munching on leaves in the bushes. All of a sudden it looked at me with curious eyes and I did not know what to do. It started to walk towards me so I ran the other way. Then it started to run after me. It felt like I had to run a marathon to get back home because I had to go through 2  other neighborhoods and also through some woods I found. The maze of trees was hard to get through but I kept on running.  Still the deer never stopped following me. Terrified, I ran out of the woods into my back yard and inside my house and slam went the door.  I peeked out of the window and saw the deer pacing back and forth, like it couldn’t wait for me to come out.   But I never came out.

That night at home I did some research on the internet.  I looked up “What to do if you get close to a deer.”  I devoured information from as many websites as I could.  The best website gave the advice to walk away slowly.  The next day, I did not see a deer when I was walking home but I still looked out for one like a hawk looking for it’s prey. I decided to ask my parents if they knew what to do when you see a deer. But, of course, they did not know what to do.  I kept up my research.

Finally on Friday, after days of research, I felt I knew what to do if I ever got chased by another crazed deer.  On my way to school I saw another deer and I did what the articles said to do: I walked away slowly, quiet as mouse, sly as a fox, and did not make eye contact.
